Basics of Salvation
Why Do We Need God?
We need God because He is our Creator, and "he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything" (Acts 17:25). We cannot exist without God, so we need Him simply in order to live.
Yet we need God further because we are more than mere material beings. We are body, soul, and spirit (1 Thess 5:23), and in order for us to have spiritual life, we must rely on God.
The problem is that we have all sinned, and this means that, spiritually, we are dead in our sins and would be unable to live with God eternally (Eph 2:1-4). But God, who is rich is mercy and grace, has made it possible for us to live with Him through Jesus Christ. He is willing to forgive our sins and reconcile us back to Himself. Are we willing?
